NatHERS

The Nationwide House Energy Rating System (NatHERS) is a star rating system which rates the energy efficiency of a home. The rating tool is designed to make Australian homes more comfortable while reducing costs of energy bills through smarter design choices. NatHERS is administered by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources on behalf of the states and territories.

NatHERS provides a rating between 1 and 10. For Class 1 dwellings, the National Construction Code (NCC) requires a minimum rating of 6 stars.  A score of 10 indicates best practice (the home may not need any artificial cooling or heating to keep occupants comfortable).
