Chapter 23 What is design?
Design is a visual representation, in the form of drawings and specifications, of an object to be constructed.
Design documents refer to the drawings, specifications and other information, samples, models, patterns and the like required for a project and necessary for the construction of the works. The specification (sometimes referred to as a ‘performance or technical specification’) is often the primary document detailing the quality and type of material to be used, the required workmanship, and may also identify the purpose or purposes for which the completed works are to be fit.
